Zella was born 26 May, 1922 in Salt Lake City. She was the daughter of Jessie Aaron Weight and Laura Mary Taylor. Her father remarried to Mary after Laura died presumably in childbirth in 1922. They went on to have another daughter called Mary.
She married Donald Prout Wharton 8th January , 1942 in Salt Lake City.
From her obituary: She was known as "TuTu" to her 12 grandchildren, family and friends. She loved music, cats, Christmas, and shopping. She was known for generosity, her many years as an organ teacher, and her great pies and fruitcakes. She worked most of her married life with her husband, Don, in his hardwood flooring business.
Zella M. Wharton died with her family at her bedside, May 24, 1995 in Salt Lake City.
