Joseph was born in 1815, the son of George Weightman and Rebecca Clee. He was baptised on the 29 May 1815 at Pentrich, Derbyshire, England.[1]
On the 04 April 1836, Joseph Weightman married Ellen Hodson at Duffield, Derby, England.[2]
At the time of the England and Wales Census, 1841, the Weightman family were living at Church Street, South Wingfield, Derbyshire, England. The family members present were:
Joseph Wightman, M, age 25-29, born in Derbyshire; Ellen Wightman, F, age 20-24, born in Derbyshire; Martha Wightman, F , age 2, born in Derbyshire; Joseph Wightman, M, age 0, born in Derbyshire.[3]
