Biography

Weinert, David A. Muskegon Mr. David Arthur Weinert, age 72, passed away Monday, September 23, 2019 at his home in Muskegon. He was born in Muskegon on September 19, 1947 to Willard and Lucille Weinert. David graduated from Muskegon High School, class of 1965, and shortly after entered the United States Marine Corp. He served for three years which included two tours in Vietnam. After his service in the Marines, he attended college for graphic arts, obtained his builders license, and built several houses. David worked as an Advertising Manager at Viking Foods/Roundy's for 32 years prior to his retirement. Concurrent with his career at Viking Foods/Roundy's, David built houses and managed church and Christian school projects. He also built many churches in Mexico while working with Spanish American Missions for 10 years. David enjoyed traveling with his bride, spending time with his family, and raising farm animals. He attended Ravenna Baptist Church where he served as deacon and elder. On February 2, 1976, David married the former Jan Morey and she survives him along with four children, Wendy Inman, Glen Weinert, Jason Weinert, and Katie (Steve) Spriensma; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Loretta Halberda, Gert (Torg) Johnson, and Margaret Matuzeski; one brother, Larry (Sue) Weinert; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends, including Doug Bytwerk and Bob Rodgers. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Matthew Weinert; grandson, Cody Inman; sister, Audrey Hoeft; brothers, Mike and Bob Weinert; and mother and father-in-law, Glen and Bonnie Morey. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Friday, September 27, 2019 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444 with Rev. Doug Bytwerk officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to his service. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. MEMORIALS may be directed to the Spanish American Missions or Harbor Hospice Foundation.
