Note: Mrs. Sallie Forrester, aged 84, died at the home of her son, Elder Burrett Forrester near Walnut Ridge January 4, 1936.
She was the mother of eight children, all still living. Mrs. Frank Starns, Gus and John Forrester of Black Rock; Burrett, Tom and Jim of Walnut Ridge; Kirt of Forrest City, and Mrs. Wade Forrest, Memphis.
Mrs. Forrester is the last of a family of 8 children of James A. and Elizabeth (Sloan) Weir, who came from North Carolina to Arkansas in 1845, and settled in Old Jackson. In 1846 he located on a farm seven miles south of there on what is now known as the old Forrester place where they resided until the death of Mrs. Weir in 1885.
Mr. Weir was a well educated man for his day. He was able to speak three languages and was among the best teachers of the county for years. He lived to be near 80 years of age. Four of eight children lived to pass the fourscore year and another was 79.
Mrs. Forrester's funeral was held in the Methodist church at Black Rock by Elder J. D. Doyle last Sunday and the remains were interred in the cemetery near Old Hopewell church, where she had been a member for 66 years.
