William Weir was baptised on Sunday, June 21, 1801, in Dalserf, Lanarkshire, Scotland, the son of John Weir and Margaret Douglas.
William married Janet McLellan(1797-1871),the daughter of John McLellan and Mary Scott, about 1824. William and Janet had seven children:
William worked as a cotton weaver and a labourer.
