Biography

Susannah was born in 1663 in Connawangoe (Conowingo) Creek, Cecil County, Maryland.[citation needed] [1] There is no known documentation of her maiden name.

Marriage to Edward Teague

She married Edward Teague about 1685 in Cecil County, MD.[2]

Marriage to Emanuel Smith

It is believed she married second Emanuel Smith who married the "widow of (---) Teague."[3] Smith's will names step-children William, Catherine and Ann Teague. The year of marriage does not appear to be supported by a primary document.

Martha Smith and Mary Smith are the children of this union[citation needed] - still needs to be proved. January 25, 2015.

She died on 03 Apr 1741 in Harford County, Maryland.[citation needed]

She passed away in 1741 and is buried in the Saint Mary Annes Episcopal Church Cemetery in Cecil County, MD.[citation needed][1]

Children with Edward Teague[3][4]

Note: specific dates or years of birth are not documented.

  • Catherine - born June 10, 1690, Cecil Manor, Cecil (now Harford) County.
  • Ann - born about 1692 in Worton Creek Hundred, Cecil County.
  • William - born in abt 1695 in Cecil County.

Research Notes

Seen but Undocumented Children

Note: this profile previously stated these children were named in The Teague Family Magazine Vol 1 No 2.[4] They are not therein named, only the three children under Documented Children are found therein.

  • Joshua - born about 1695 in Cecil County.
There is presently no known primary source for Joshua who is always seen to have died in infancy
  • Susanna - born in 1696 in Teggs Delight, Cecil County.
There is presently no known primary source for Susanna while a 1712 marriage record gives her as Susanna Treague with no parentage given. She often appears as Susanna "Ann" Teague, perhaps to attach her to Edward Teague who had a documented daughter Ann.

Posted Source on Susan Wikitree page The graves on Find=A=Grave of course are incorrect/ No gravestones to PROVE the death date of Susan 1741 must be incorrect. The Emanuel Smith attached as the second wife of Susan is another Emanuel Smith and also incorrect. Will try to get these Memorial graves corrected on Edward and Susan These are not real Graves Just Memorial gaves later

Are we sure that this was correct Susan Teague who married Emanuel Smith? Emanuel died and named three stepchildren William, Catherine, and Ann Teague, Susan Teague Smith died before 16 Oct 1706 and named daughters Martha b/ 16 Feb 1698 Mary 1 June 1701 married Thomas Simpson 13 Feb 1717. Emauel's 1st wife was Mary, Edward Teague is my 7th great-grandfather, and William is my 6th.

Jerry, I am on the Southern Colonies profile improvement team and am placing this profile in line for scrutiny since we do not accept undocumented FindAGrave memorials as documentation for pre-1700 profiles. I am also unable to access the PDF which is linked from the other "source." In the meantime, the profile has been designated Unsourced.

Jerry, can you point me to documentation/will for the death of Susan Teague Smith who was married to Emanuel Smith as being before 16 Oct 1706.

Hey Everyone,

The profile meets the criteria for a 5 Star WikiTree Profile. This means that there are a lot of people visiting this profile. We need to create a real bio and make the profile more "readable" so that it puts a good face on our Ancestor and on WikiTree - Please see this G2G thread. https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/905133/will-you-help-us-improve-the-most-visited-profiles.

There are way too many profile Managers and I am going to drop off, though I will still work the profile with y'all.

Smith-61076 and Welch-72 appear to represent the same person because: This is the same Welch-72 as reported by the bio in Smith-61076. Tegg's Delight wasn't established until Edward filed patent on it, She married Emanual Smith after Edward died. PS, tobacco was a cash crop, a tradeable commodity.

Welch-7060 and Welch-72 appear to represent the same person because: Appearant duplicate

Smith-131144 and Welch-72 appear to represent the same person because: Susannah "Susan" Welch married Edward Teague/Tegg first, then when he died married Emanuel Smith, with whom she had Martha Smith Mitchell. The Welch page has a wider variety of information.
Hey Jan,

I don't see any pending merges for this profile. If you have a profile you would like to merge please initiate the merge. Once the merge is initiated we can review it and approve it.

The reason the note is up is that there were many, many, many merges, some good and some bad. It is a caution to the profile managers to be watchful to make sure that merges proposed work for this profile.

Thanks for posting your note.

It has been a long time since I've had the time to dig back into WikiTree, so I have not been actively working on this or other profiles. I tried not to leave any loose ends in connection to my specific work, but I do know that there are a lot of loose ends in this line.

If we don't look to the bottom of the profile, we will not see your msg. "Merge Correction taking place. Please do not merge any related family members or edit while this message is posted here.

Consequently there are many profiles needing to be merged for this family. Your last comment was January 2015. Are you or anyone working on these merges??

I have also found where she married SMith after her marriage to Teague, with issue of Martha and Mary Smith. Mags

Smith-15405 and Welch-72 appear to represent the same person because: I am an arborist working to correct this family/line. I am merging duplicates and this profile is a duplicate - the last name at birth is Welch, she may have married a Smith prior to marrying Teague. also sources are on the other profile. Thanks, Mags
