Biography

Collections by Charles Fredrick Robinson: His will was made 18 Jun 1744, and probated 14 Apr 1747. Its provisions were: "Being advanced to a good age but in comfortable measure of health, and of sound mind and memory, &c."; to son John Weld, £100 three or four years after my decease: to son Edmund, executor, all my part of the homestead and training field and the land adjoining, also three acres of meadow at the mill beyond the bank (?), also my meadow in the woods and the remainder of my woodland not yet disposed of, all my husbandry tools, one of my beds, my jack and spit, great pot and great kettle, and its is my desire that any of my children that live near if they should want to use the kettle for a Day or two at any time that they may have the use of it; to daughter Dorothy, £100 in two or three years after my decease; whereas I have given to my son Thomas by Deed of gift a considerable part of my woodland which, with what was expended upon him at Colledge will make him equal or above my other children, I leave him without legacy; to grandson Sam Weld my gun and sword; to grand-daughter Dorothy Weld my mother, as they come of age; to three grand-daughters vizt. Elizabeth Parkman, Susanna Dorr, and Esther Weld twenty shillings apiece, old tenor; the salt meadow which I had with my wife to be equally divided among my children; to my four daughters to be equally divided such things as are not disposed of."

Research Notes

After a merge some detail are still a work in progress. At time of merge I favored the later death date as his will makes good reference to his advanced age as well seeing the probate date. The death date is currently used is without a source that takes in the account his Will was in probate on 14 Apr 1747. I do not see a way around the fact that if his will was administered in probate he had to have died. Dying in Jul 1748 is seen but not believed at this time. His birth date solid and referenced below.

When it was a separate municipality, Roxbury was part of Norfolk County; it is now part of Suffolk County. Annexed by Boston, Suffolk on 5 Jan 1886.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Edmund by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Edmund:
