• April 1931:- Rene and friend, Marie Sands, performed a vocal duet at the Presbyterian Hall for a Salvation Army Event. Her sister, Eugene, and three other girls were well received and showed good talent.
• September 1931:- At the Presbyterian Church Sunday School Anniversary, Rene and Marie again performed a duet.
• November 1931:- Rene was a receipient of a First Aid Certificate issued from the Ambulance Committee.
• September 1932:- At a local Garden Fete cake competition, Rene won the children's section with a plate of scones.
