Abraham Wellington was born in Cornwall, England.

Abraham Wellington was baptised on 10 March 1736 at St Mary the Virgin, Braddock, Cornwall, England. He was the son of John Wellington and Elizabeth Kempe. [1] [2]

He married Elizabeth Polkinhorne on 3 June 1760 at St Crida, Creed, Cornwall, England. [3]

Abraham Wellington, husbandman, married his second wife, Grace Wilmet, on 17 February 1773 at St Crida, Creed, Cornwall, England. [4]

  • In the Will of Abraham Wellington, Yeoman, of Creed, dated 26 July 1800, and Probated 11 December 1800, witnessed by Nicholas Ball and Nath' Ball, the following were named:- Thomas, William, John, Peter, Abraham (sons); Eleanor, Grace, Jennifer, Catherine (unmarried daughters); Margaret, wife of R. Pearce, and their son William, grandson; Elizabeth, wife of R. Rollin; Mary, wife of R. Collins; Ann, wife of T. Bullen; Phillipa, wife of T. Ninnis (married daughters); Also grand-daughter Elizabeth, daughter of Abraham. John Eddy and Thomas Bullen are named as overseers and guardians. William, John and Peter were named executors and residual legatees. (Note that one daughter, Sarah, wife of James Soper, is not mentioned. Nathaniel Ball was also a witness at the wedding of Abraham junior when he married Mary Philps. The grand-daughter, Elizabeth, was baptised as Betsey, in 1793)
