Thomas Welles was born to his parents Thomas Welles and Grace Wright in Dudley, Worcestershire, England on January 10, 1694.[1]
Came to America A. D. 1712, and landed at Saybrook, Conn., whence he removed in the year 1725 to Gilead Parish, town of Hebron, Conn., where he purchased a small landed property, and died Feb. 4, 1760 (N. S.), aged 66 years.[1]
He passed away in 1760.

"The New York genealogical and biographical record," Volume 44, p. 337 "Edmund, Thomas and Joseph Wells were among the original proprietors of land in what is now Cambridge, Washington Co., N.Y. They were son of Capt. Thomas Wells from England, who first settled at Saybrook, Ct., but soon move to Hebron, Ct." goes on to say where lists of the children of the three sons can be found.
