Biography

Easther was born about 1755. She passed away about 1834. Easther is mentioned as Williams wife several times in a letter written 1882 by Dr. James Daugherty Magill, descendant of Daugherty-Magill-Patterson of Augusta Co., VA. Transcript of Williams last will and testament: In the name of God Amen. I, William DAUGHERTY of Lincoln Co. and State of Kentucky being of sound and perfect possession of my sense and recollection do ordain and declare this my last will and Testament and form as follows, to wit: 1st It is my will that my Just Debts be paid 2nd I give and bequeath to my daughter-in-law DORCAS DAUGHERTY (wife of my son JOHN DAUGHERTY deceased) the Tract of land whereon I now live with its farming utensils and likewise one half of my household and kitchen and also my share in the Stanford Library. And should my wife ESTHER DAUGHERTY survive me it is my will she should have adequate maintenance from the proceeds of my farm And all my household kitchen furniture to remain in her possession while she lives and at her death to pass completely into the hands of our daughter-in-law DORCAS DORITY and her heirs forever except one half of my household and kitchen furniture. 3rd I give unto my daughter EASTER WELLS one half of my kitchen and household furniture and at her death to fall into the hands of her daughter EMILY WELLS. And lastle I appoint and constitute Phillip L. HOCKER with my Daughter-in-law DORCAS DAUGHERTY Executors of this my last will and Testament.. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and and Seal this 17th day of January in the year of our Lord 1834. Signed in the presence of Phillip Hocker William DAUGHERTY his (X) mark Will F. Murphy Saml. Campbell Kentucky Lincoln County Court At a County Court held in and for the County of Lincoln on Monday the day of June 1835 The last Will and Testament of WM. DAUGHERTY and was exhibited into Court and proven by the oaths of Phillip Hocker and Samuel Campbell two of the subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. Witness: Thomas Helm, Clerk Lincoln Co. Court
