I was born on 14 Jan 1953 in Olney, Richland, Illinois, USA to Charles Samuel and Mary Ellen (Blackford) Wells.
I graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a BSEE degree in 1975.
I worked in the technology field for a Chicago based company, co-founded a software company, and ran a communication skills training firm with my life-partner, Kim Kerrigan. He and I were finally married after being together for 35 years on 29 Sep 2019 in our home in Boston, Massachusetts.
My grandmother, Ruth (Monts) Blackford, had done considerable work with our her genealogy and became a member of the DAR. She also contributed to the book of descendants of Patrick McGuire. Her work made my job of tracing our ancestors a lot easier.

How to add to your followed tags: On your home page (this page). - Towards the top, look for the word "following" and a bunch of green "tags" At the end of the green "tags", look for the word "edit" and click. The edit page is fairly self-explanatory. The place to add new followed tags is towards the bottom "Add New Tags" Add the word mayflower and then a comment (such as who your Mayflower ancestor is) and click on Enter New TAG
Thank you.
You added a daughter Abigail to Henry Sewall without any indication of a source. I've added comments to her profile explaining why I have removed her. When adding children/parents/spouses to profiles on WikiTree we must provide source information at the same time. This is especially true on pre-1700 profiles. Please take some time and read through again the information on that page.

Thanks for taking responsibility for the Orphaned Profiles This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.
Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up GEDCOM biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!
Debi
PS If you have any GEDCOM cleanup to do, there is a new tool that can help. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.
Check out the How-to pages for some quick tips on working with both the Wiki pages and our other members. There is some great information in those pages.
Thank you for adding your DNA Test information to your profile on WikiTree. Your information will be propagated to the profiles of your parents and your ancestors within about 24 hours of being added. It will also propagate to the profiles of the descendants of your ancestors, so they may see your information under the heading "DNA Connections" just as you can see theirs.
Getting started with DNA outlines how to proceed to use your DNA test information on WikiTree and DNA is a link to a collection of links about WikiTree's many features involving DNA.
The DNA Connections list on your profile will provide a visual way for you to find potential relatives on WikiTree who have also added their DNA test information. Using DNA tools at sites like GEDMatch.com, if you find a relative that matches your DNA sufficiently and you have genealogical sources for the intermediate relationships, you can mark the specific parental relationships back to the most recent ancestor that you both share as "confirmed with DNA." For details, guidance, and examples of how to properly document DNA confirmations, see DNA confirmation.
To get the best results, begin adding sourced profiles for your ancestors until you can connect to ancestors already in WikiTree. If you have exhausted what you know on one line, it can sometimes help to add what you know on another line. The more branches you are able to add the greater the likelihood of finding potential cousins to match with. The process of identifying which branch elements of DNA relate to will better enable you to find matches that relate to the particular branches you are researching.

One of our mentors created a guide for the GEDCOMpare process that I found very helpful. I thought you might like to take a look at it while your file uploads.
