Antje Wels, as found in the marriage record, or possibly Wells, was perhaps born in the City of New York (Manhattan or Staten Island), of Dutch parents, recent immigrants or whose ancestors lived in the former New Netherlands of Dutch Colonial America, renamed New York of the New York Colony by the British Duke of York. Her parents are as yet unknown from records. Her date of birth has been given as 1708 in Staten Island, New York, New York Colony, but more likely 1704 or 1705 based on the 1723 marriage.

She married Andreas Pressler, a German immigrant, 21 May 1723 in the Dutch Reformed Church, Manhattan, New York.[1]

Antje had 5 children with Andreas David Pressler: Christian (daughter; 1725-1808); John Valentine (1726-1833); Sarah Jane (1728-1774); Thomas (1730-1808); Andreas David, Jr. (1732-1790).
