The News-Review, Roseburg, Oregon, 19 August 1997 Bernice I. Haines HAINES, Bernice I. - Age 79 of Eugene, passed away August 16, 1997. She was born April 9, 1918 to Roy and Myrtle Wells in Elkton, Oregon. On April 3, 1938 in Elkton, Oregon she was united in marriage to Dexter Haines, who preceded her in death on May 3, 1997. Bernice resided in Elkton from 1918 until 1938, graduating from the Elkton High School. She had been a resident of Eugene, Oregon for the past 60 years. Bernice was the Secretary at Magladry and Patterson Elementary Schools, and Bookkeeper for the Eugene Public Schools. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. Bernice was a member of the Westside Christian Church . She is survived by: her daughter, Fran Moore of Anacortes, Washington; her son, Paul Haines of Eugene, Oregon; sisters, Merle Seeley of Portland, Oregon and Lois Palmer of Woodburn, Oregon; son-in-law Dick Moore of Anacortes, Washington; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 20, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. at the Westside Christian Church. Burial will be at Elkton Cemetery on Wednesday, August 20, 1997 at 3:00 p.m. SMITH-LUND-MILLS in Cottage Grove, Oregon is in charge of arrangements.
