Do you have anyone in your Wendell branch of ancestors with ties to Veddige, Halland, Sweden?

Hello David,

Thank you for adding your DNA Test information to your profile on WikiTree. Your information will be propagated to the profiles of your parents and your ancestors within about 24 hours of being added. It will also propagate to the profiles of the descendants of your ancestors, so they may see your information under the heading "DNA Connections" just as you can see theirs.

Getting started with DNA outlines how to proceed to use your DNA test information on WikiTree and DNA is a link to a collection of links about WikiTree's many features involving DNA.

The DNA Connections list on your profile will provide a visual way for you to find potential relatives on WikiTree who have also added their DNA test information. Using DNA tools at sites like GEDMatch.com, if you find a relative that matches your DNA sufficiently and you have genealogical sources for the intermediate relationships, you can mark the specific parental relationships back to the most recent ancestor that you both share as "confirmed with DNA." For details, guidance, and examples of how to properly document DNA confirmations, see DNA confirmation.

To find other potential relatives, continue adding sourced profiles for other lines until you can connect on all branches. The more branches you are able to add the greater the likelihood of finding potential cousins to match with. The process of identifying which branch elements of DNA relate to will better enable you to find matches that relate to the particular branches you are researching.

Let me know if you have any questions,

 :)

Welcome aboard David.

I've been playing hide-and-seek with my paternal great grandparents, Andreas Andersson (1835-1880) and Anna Christina Börjesdotter (1825-?), and their son Carl-Johan (1863-?) and daughter Emma Christina (1866-?) Andreasson/Anderson for 40 years. He and 3 of his children emigrated separately from Veddige, Halland, Sweden to the USA. My grandfather, Johan-Bernt (1867-1952) took name John Wendell and settled in DeKalb, IL after immigrating in 1886. Carl-Johan Andreasson/Anderson disappeared after emigration (1881-1891). There is a slight possibility that the 2 brothers took same name John Wendell, something that I am just finding. If there is any possibility that they relate to anyone in your private tree, I would surely like to collaborate.

Good luck on your endeavor to connect with the bigger family. I've been looking for my great grandfather and older great uncle Andreasson/Anderson emigrants from Veddige, Halland, Sweden for a very long time. My grandfather took the name of John B Wendell when he married Anna-Lina Samuelsdotter/Wedberg, but his brother Karl-Johan became an elusive great uncle once he left Sweden. He gave Batavia, Kane, Illinois as his destination but has never been found there. I expect that he may have changed names as well - possibly Wendell. The more Wendell people added to the tree, the more likely we will all have progress in our worldly connections. Welcome aboard.

Welcome David!

You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. We are building one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person.

It is important to check for duplicates as you add any Profiles to WikiTree. Instead of making another profile of the same person, we add our sources to profiles which match ours and are already on WikiTree.

See How to Use WikiTree to be quickly oriented.

Our list of Projects offers unique ways to participate in WikiTree.

Visit our G2G Forum for answers to questions like this one: How do you find sources?

Thank you for joining us in building our shared tree.
