"Philip Windle, apparently the eldest son, was born around 1738/9, was granted land as early as 1760, married Elizabeth ------, and died in Shenandoah County 8n 1814. The will of Philip Windel, Sr., dated Dec. 18, 1813 and probated Aug. 8, 1841 (shenandoah Co. W.B. 'J', p. 95) mentions his wife Elizabeth; his two daughters, Barbara, wife of John Zentmeyer, and Rebecca Windel; sons Christian, Daniel, Philip, Emanuel, and David; brother John Windel; son Emanuel, executor.[4]

Note N13904Philip Windle, his wife Elizabeth, John Windle and his wife Mary Magdalene sold 50 acres (part of their inherited 110 acres) to Philip's son Emanuel Windle on 10 February 1812. One hundred acres of the 110-acre tract were a part of the 400-acre Fairfax grant and 10 acres (10½) Christopher Sr. had purchased from George Keller and his wife Catherine on 26 June 1787. The 10 acres (part of Charles Huddle's 346-acre Fairfax grant) were located adjacent south of the 400-acre tract on Toms Brook. Philip and Elizabeth sold the remaining 50 acres of their legacy (including the grist mill) to brother John for one dollar on 9 March 1812. Philip was deceased by 8 August 1814 and John by 13 February 1815 when their wills were proved in Shenandoah County, Virginia.
