John Wentworth was born on October 19, 1703 in Portsmouth, Rockingham Co., NH, son of John Wentworth (1671–1730) and Sarah Hunking (~1673–1741).[1]
John graduated at Cambridge, 1723, was made Judge of Probate on 25 September 1765, and continued in that office until his death in November 1773.
John married Sarah Hall (born about 1711 in Barbados; daughter of Hon. Hugh Hall). Their children were:
Mary Wentworth m. 1st, Capt. Samuel Appleton ; 2nd, John Clapham.

Research Notes
This name is often confounded with that of Judge (Col.) John Wentworth, of Somersworth, who was never Judge of Probate.
