Obituary

Virginia M. Ireland passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, Dec. 6, 2002.

She was born Feb. 28, 1922, in Brainard, MN, to Frank and Myrtle (Woolett) Wentworth. Growing up, she moved with her family throughout The Depression and war years before settling in the Wenatchee Valley in the mid 1940s where she had since lived. She held a variety of jobs in her early years as a receptionist for the Eagles Lodge. She worked for Western Union Telegraph during W.W. II and later at several of the local apple warehouses until retiring from Skookum after 27 years there.

Virginia married Duane L. Ireland in 1952 and they began to raise a family. She was devoted to her family and loved baseball. She was an avid Wenatchee Chiefs fan. She was involved in the community as PTA President, a Cub Scout Den Mother, softball scorekeeper and supporter of many local baseball and softball teams. She was also a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She was preceded in death by her husband Duane; her parents; three sisters, Francis Hurd, Helen Graves, Avis Butterbaugh; and a brother, Niles Wentworth.

She is survived by a brother, Dale Wentworth of Hamilton, MT; a daughter, Cheri Ireland of East Wenatchee; her sons, Leonard Ireland of Corvallis, MT, Harold Ireland of Edmonds; and a grandson, Michael Ireland of Corvallis, MT; and many nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held Friday afternoon, Dec. 13, 2002, at 1:30 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Telford's Chapel of the Valley.
