Biography

Thomas Wentworth, 1st Earl of Strafford(1593-1641) was the son of Sir William Wentworth and his wife, Anne Atkinson and was baptised at St Dunstan in the West on 22 April 1593. [1] He married firstly Lady Margaret Clifford, daughter of Francis Clifford, 4th Earl of Cumberland and his wife, Grisold Hughes in Londesborough on 22 October 1611. [2] His second wife whom he married in February 1625 was Lady Arabella Holles, daughter of John Holles, 1st Earl of Clare and his wife, Anne Stanhope. Thirdly in October 1632 he wed Elizabeth Rodes, daughter of Sir Godfrey Rodes.

He served King Charles as Lord Deputy of Ireland, and was created 1st Earl of Strafford in January 1640 and Knight of the Garter (K.G.). One of the first acts of the Long Parliament was to impeach him for his conduct in Ireland, and he was recalled to London and detained. It was determined that Wentworth had only acted on the King's wishes, and the impeachment failed. Parliament then passed a Bill of Attainder to which King Charles reluctantly gave his assent and signed his death warrant in an futile effort to restore order on the eve of the 1st English Civil War. Wentworth was beheaded on 12 May 1641 at Tower Hill in London.

Wentworth-1350 and Wentworth-207 appear to represent the same person because: Clearly the same man. Thomas Wentworth was married three times.

Wentworth-1350 and Wentworth-207 do not represent the same person because: Don't see anything to make them clear duplicates including having different spouses.
