Biography

She passed away in 1629.

"The Wentworths were a branch of that large and influential family, settled in the three adjoining parishes of Wethersfield, Gosfield, and Bocking, in Essex. Sir Roger Wentworth, Knt., of Codham Hall, and jure uxoris, of Gosfield, Sheriff of Essex and Herts. 1499, ob. 1539, with his wife, Anne Tyrell, ob. 1534, a great heiress, are both buried in Wethersfield Church where is their fine altar tomb and recumbent effigies. They quarter De Spencer in their arms. Roger Wentworth, their third son, was of Felsted, and afterward of Bocking, which manor, in 1540, was granted to him by Henry VIII, on the suppression of the Priory of St. Saviour's, Canterbury, to which it belonged. He had two wives--Mary, and the second, Alice, daughter of William Buckford. He died in 1557, and was buried at Bocking. He was succeeded by his son, John Wentworth of Bocking, born 1535, died 1603. He married Elizabeth, daughter of Sir Edward Capel, of Hadham, county of Hertford. They had two children--Edward Wentworth of Bocking born 1573, died 1616; and Anne, the wife of Roland Huyshe, of Sand, in Sidbury, Devon. They differenced their arms with a crescent.
