Biography

Ralph A. Werner was born in November 1894 in Michigan to parents Aaron and Mary Werner. He had two older sisters, Vera and Gladys.

During the 1900 United States Census, Ralph was six years old and attending school. The household contained parents Aaron and Mary Werner, and children Vera C., Gladis P., and Ralph A. Werner. They lived together in the village of Hersey in Osceola County, Michigan.

Ralph was fifteen years old during the 1910 United States Census. In the household were parents Aaron and Mary, and children Vera, Gladis, and Ralph Werner. They continued to live together in Hersey Township in Osceola County, Michigan.

Ralph registered for the World War I draft on June 5, 1917. He was 22 years old and lived at 20 Duncan in Detroit, Michigan. He was a barber working for John McLean at Elmwood & Boone in Detroit. He was described as tall and slender with dark brown hair and dark blue eyes. He had no disabilities or previous military experience.

At age 22, Ralph married Ruth Kinn in Wayne County, Michigan. The wedding took place on October 11, 1917 (marriage date not recorded in the original document but is recorded in the transcription). Ralph lived in Detroit, Michigan at the time and was employed as a barber.

Ralph died on March 20, 1931 in Troy, Michigan. He was married and 36 years old. Interment is in Crooks Road Cemetery in Troy, Michigan. A headstone photo can be found here: [1]
