Biography
James was born about 1853 at Adair, Limerick, Ireland, to parents Thomas and Bridget.
He emigrated with his parents and siblings in 1860.[1]
He married Ellen Elizabeth Ryan at Cassilis in 1876.[2]
He passed away on the 24th March, 1920 at Darlinghurst.[3]
Obituary
Late Mr. James Wesley. A correspondent writes: —
The death occurred on March 24 of Mr. James Wesley, at the Sacred Heart Hospice, Darlinghurst, Sydney, of which he had been an inmate for about four months. Mr. Wesley was a well known and highly respected resident of the Coonamble and Mudgee districts. He had been for some time in ill-health, and his death was not unexpected. He resided in Coonamble district for about 40 years, being one of the earliest settlers, particularly on Bugil, near Wingadee, where he selected.
He was born at Adair, Limerick (Ireland), 67 years ago, and came to this country about 1859. He leaves four daughters and one son, namely, Jack Wesley (Coonamble), Mrs. Spears (America), Mrs. J. Curran (Gulgong), Mrs. J. Robertson (Woolingar), and Mrs. A. Gordon (Warrington).
He was a broadminded Irishman, and an intensely faithful son to his native land. His youthful days were spent in Mudgee and Uarbry districts, having been a selector in Uarbry district, and a schooboy of Mr. C. Kevin, Mudgee.
He was attended in his last moments by Monsignor O'Haran, and was buried in Waverley cemetery. Mr. Wesley was highly appreciated by all who knew him.
