Biography
Æthelgifu (Wessex) of Shaftesbury is a member of the House of Wessex.
Æthelgifu was the daughter of King Alfred and his wife Ealhswith.[1][2] There is no firm source for her birth and death dates.
She was the first Abbess of Shaftesbury Abbey,[1][3] which her father founded.[4]
She is probably the "middle daughter" left land at Kingsclere and Candover, Hampshire in King Alfred's will.[5]
