Æthelflæd, Lady of Mercia, was the eldest child of Alfred the Great and Ealhswith.

m. (late 889) Æthelred (d. 912), ealdorman of Mercia.[3] Issue:

  • Æthelstan (890/92 - 903/4)
  • Ælfwynn (d. after 919).

Titles

  • 911: Lady of the Mercians.

Reign

  • 911-18: ruled Mercia[2]
  • 910 and 918: joint campaigns with brother Edward, driving the Danish Vikings from England.
