Biography
Eleanor was born on 27 February 1837 in Union County, South Carolina, USA. She was the daughter of Willis West and Jennie Hewitt. She passed away in 1915.
Eleanor was first married to Dr. Lawton S. Cunningham. They had one daughter, Alice, born 1859 and died in 1870. He died sometime in 1865 not sure if while serving in the Civil War or when he returned home. NOTE: Research continues.
On 25 May 1865, Eleanor marries her 2nd husband, James Monroe Hayes in Pickens, Georgia. [1] James entered the Civil War as a private and left as 2nd Lieutenant. Some time in the early 1870's Eleanor and James moved from Georgia to Texas where most of Eleanor's moved to from South Carolina and Georgia.
Eleanor Elizabeth Hayes died on 11 July 1915 and was buired at Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel, Taylor County, Texas. [2]
