Eric Charles West - known in the family as "King" - was born in Hastings in 1910 to James West and Emily (Carson) West.
At times his occupation was given as Labourer, but on his death record he was described as a Painter.
Eric served in the New Zealand Army in WWII: NZ Army Service Corps, SN 43028.[1]
He was living in Hastings at the time of his father's death in 1948.
Eric died at age 52 in Hastings and is buried in the RSA section of the Hastings Cemetery (RSA/#/C6).
There is no mention of a wife or partner in Eric's will and no marriage record has been found, so it is assumed he did not marry. His sister, Mary Pickford, was executrix of Eric's will, and £100 was left to brother Bertie.
