Biography

Mary was born in 1840 and almost exclusively went by the nickname "Polly". Her death certificate says she was born in Dresden, Ohio which is in Muskingum County.

She married first Norman Hunt. Permission for this marriage was granted by her mother Anna Bilby (aka Bibler) as noted on the Portage County, Ohio marriage license. Norman and Polly had just two sons, William Henry and Walter Thames. The family resided in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. Norman died in 1860 per an infirmary record that his gr-gr-granddaughters stumbled upon one day at the Portage County Archives.

Polly married next John H. Cline. They had two daughters, Mary who died young and Ida May Cline Dalrymple. Born a Cline, Ida took on the Jory name after Polly and John divorced in 1869 when Ida was just two years old.

Polly then married Thomas Jory, and like her marriage to Norman they were only parted by death. Polly and Thomas had several children together, as follows: Thomas Francis, Harry Bennett, Isabelle, Lucy, and Elizabeth.
