in Chatham, Kent and christened 3 July 1913 at St Paul's in Chatham[2]. He was the son of Walter West and Eleanor Taylor.
He was known as Bill to all his siblings.

Bill was living at 10 Castle Road in Chatham, Kent on his christening in 1913[2].
He was living at 21 Sturla Road when his brother, Alfred, was christened[3] in 1914.
He was living at 5 Bruce Street in Dunfermline, Fife when his brother, Walter, was born[5].
He returned to Chatham in 1926 when his father was transferred back to Chatham Dockyard[6].
Bill West served in the Royal West Kent Regiment and during the war he was blockaded in Malta where he met his first wife Rita. The island was on the point of starvation when it was relieved and when Bill came home his mother had to feed him with a dropper because he was so ill[7].
Marriage
Bill married Maria Rita Felice (1918 - 1992) in Malta[7]. They had 2 daughters.
