William West was born in November 1797 in Chelsea, Middlesex and baptised on 10 November 1797 in St Luke, Chelsea, Kensington and Chelsea, Middlesex. His parents were John West and Ann.^[1]

In 1813 William (age 16) was tried and acquitted of a crime in Middlesex.^[2]

William married Sarah Nowell in 1813 in St. Mary Somerset Church in London, England.^[3]

Sarah and William had three children: Henry Thomas^[4] Mary Ann ^[5] and William Thomas.^[6]

William appears to have moved to Maidstone with is family. He was registered to vote in Maidstone, Kent in 1849.^[7]

William was in a directory in 1850 as a Printer and Stationer on High Street in Maidstone, Kent, England.^[8]

William may have remarried a Susan Grubb on 20 March 1852 in St George in the East, Tower Hamlets^[9] (East End of London). "Is this the same William West? It’s possible, if Sarah died before 1852.

William's death (age 71) was registered in the Apr-May-Jun quarter of 1868 in the Maidstone district in Kent.^[10]

4. William West of Kent/Philadelphia: Born on 11 Nov 1797 in Kent, England, and arrived on 24 June 1815 (age 23) in Philadelphia having departed from Dublin.^[11] Naturalized in Philadelphia in 1820.^[12]
