Two other records have been previously connected to this profile, but are most likely not for the correct individual: 1. the marriage of Mary Ann West to Richard Holt in 1841, and 2. an 1871 census entry for a widowed Mary Ann West living in St Pancras, London.

• The Mary Ann West who married Richard Holt was the daughter of a William West, but according to census records after her marriage she was born in Middlesex, not Kent. She was probably a different person.

• The Mary Ann West on that 1871 census^[3] was definitely a different person. In 1871 she was living with her son-in-law William Gray [mistranscribed as Gracy] and daughter Caroline "Carry" Gray, nee West. Mary's relationship to head of household was mistakenly listed as mother rather than mother-in-law, leading to the belief that she had married a Mr Gracy. However, she was actually the widow of Henry West. She had also lived with William & Caroline Gray in 1861.

Mary Ann West married Richard Holt on 25 Dec 1841 at Saint Botolph Bishopsgate, London.^[4][5] The marriage was registered in East London in the last quarter of the year.^[6]
