Married twice. Second husband was Arman P. Babb who she married in 1881 in Clay, Illinois.

Obituary

Mary Eliabeth West was born near Marietta, Ohio, June 14th , 1846, and died at her home in Mound City, January 16th, 1915, age 68 years, 8 months and 2 days. She was united in marriage to George W. Brooks, January 13th, 1868. To this union four children were born, George Albert Brooks, Mrs. C. F. Allison, both deceased; Charles W. Brooks and D. P. Brooks of Oregon, Mo. She was married in 1880 to Orman P. Babb at Danville, Ill. To this union child was born, P. M. Babb of Oregon, Mo. In 1893 she moved with her family from Danville, Ill., to Mound City, Mo., where she made her home until her death. She leaves to mourn their loss a husband, O. P. Babb; three children, 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In girlhood she united with the M. E. Church and remained a member till in 1889, at which time she took membership with the Christian church under the preaching of W. H. Bowles in Philadelphia, Ill. Mrs. Babb was an earnest Christian character, and all her life had been a constant toiler for her family. Of late years she had been a great sufferer, and bore her affliction with true Christian patience. The funeral services were conducted Monday from the Mound City Christian church, by Elder B. H. Dawson, the interment being in the Mount Hope cemetery.^[1]
