Biography

Charlotte Marie (Westby) Spriggs was born on the 13th of June 1876 in Oslo, Norway. She was the daughter of Ole Christiansen Westby and Maren Christiansdatter. She was baptized July 16 as "Marie Charlotte" at the Østre Aker church in Oslo.^[1] When she was a year old, she came with her parents and her older sister to the United States, arriving in New York on the SS New York City from Liverpool, 13 April 1878.^[2]

Note: "Westby" is likely a place name adopted later. Her father was baptized as Ole Christiansen in a place where patronymics are used.

Charlotte married John William Spriggs on the 19th of August 1898 in Spokane, Washington.^[3]
