On 5th October 1843, Thomas Westcott and Grace Hocking were married in St. Clement, Cornwall. Thomas, the son of Michael Westcott, resided in St Just in Roseland. Grace's father is Walter Hocking. [1]
At the time of the 1851 Enlish Census, the Westcott family lived at Carlclew Street, St Clement, Cornwall. Thomas Westcott is a 29-year-old gardener, born Plint (subsequent census years record Feock). His wife Grace is 25 and was born in St Clements, as was Charles, a 3-year-old scholar and his 6-year-old brother William H. The baby of the family, John, aged 14 months, was born at Truro. [2]
At least two of their children - William Henry and Charles - found their way to Australia.
