Parentage: There doesn't seem to be a baptism for Matthew or even a likely father but there are 4 WESTMORLAND ladies who might be responsible for his presence. Henry WESTMORLAND baptised 3 daughters. Elenor bap 1652 Houghton Le Spring. Ann bap 1655 Pittington. Jane bap 1658 Pittington (probably married John ALLISON Pittington 1677). Thomas WESTMORLAND baptised 1 daughter. Mary bap 1649 Houghton Le Spring (probably married Edward FURBANK Durham Cathedral 1682). I have grave doubts about the virtue of at least one of these ladies but no way of knowing if any of them produced young Matthew. However Matthew named his first born Ann and when she didn't survive he named another daughter Ann. He didn't name any of his other 4 daughters Elenor, Mary or Jane so my money is on Ann. It's not sufficient for me to put it in the tree though.
