William Weston V was the son of Dr. William Weston IV and Caroline Elizabeth Woodward. He attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia for two years and graduated from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Charleston. In 1896 he married Elizabeth Vanderhorst. They had four children.
