Biography

Henry Clay Wesson, son of Joe Wesson and Martha Futrell, was born on Aug 19 1861 in Bertie County, North Carolina. In 1880 census working and living on farm of James Peele in Bertie County and is 19 years old.[1]

He married Martha Jane Futrel, daughter of Katie and Jim Futrel, on 28 April 1881 in Rich Square North Carolina.[2]

He married Alice (Bryant) Bell on 13 March 1889 at Bertie County, North Carolina. He and Alice appeared on the census of 11 June 1900 in Matoaca, Chesterfield, Virginia. His mother, Martha Weston, 64, is living with them. Census says couple married 10 years but have three children 11 to 18 yrs old. Appears that those 3 children may be from his first marriage with Martha. [3] At some point before 1910 he and family move to Halifax county, NC for he with wife Alice appear on 15 April 1910 census in Halifax, Halifax, North Carolina as farmers .[4]

Henry died on 27 Aug. 1912 at Roanoke Rapids, Halifax County, North Carolina and is buried at Cedarwood Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids, Halifax County, North Carolina. Grave markers shown in FindAGrave. [5], [6] Death certificate names parents, birth date and notes he was a carpenter as well as farmer.
