The date of William's arrival in Virginia is not confirmed. He is known to be at least by 1647.

Ambrose Bennett, Arthur Smith and Richard Sharp bind themselves to pay Elizabeth Westwray, widow, the sum of 40,000 lbs. tbco. on demand. The conditions being that the aforesaid men at all times bind themselves to defend her for the possessing of Ambrose Bennet with the estate of his dec. father and putting in the hands of Wm. Westwray deceased husband of said Elizabeth. 11 Apl., 1665 Teste, Jos. Bridger, Jno. Marshall. Whereas John Marshall and Wm. Andrews became surety for Wm. Westwray on condition of his being guardian for Ambrose Bennett, said Marshall and Andrews having no security said above sureties for Eliz. Westwray also agree to save from any damages. 6 June, 1665. To all & whereas & now Know ye That I the said Sir William Berkeley Knight, Governor & give and grant unto William Westwary Seven hundred and fifty Acres of Land lying in the Isle of Wight County upon abranch of blacks Water Beginning at apoplar on the brow of a hill by the Swamps side and running Past by Mathew Tomlins Land three hundred and forty poles to his Corner tree, then South South East two hundred poles to ap...ohikory by a branch side, then South East one hundred and forty poles to a red oak, then West and by South two hundred and forty Poles [-page break-] Poles then North West and by West three hundred and six poles to apine, then North one hundred and sixty poles over aswamp at the lower part of this Line to the first station. The said Land being due unto the said William Westwary by and for the transportation of Fifteen Persons & To Have and To Hold & To be Held & yielding and Paying & provided & Dated the twenty sixth of September one thousand six hundred and sixty four.[4][5]
Marriage & Children
William married Elizabeth Scowne, about 1640 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. One child is suggested for them, but documentation has not been found for this on and he is not named in William's will.

Death & Legacy
William Westray's will was dated August 9, 1664 and recorded August 19, 1664. His wife, Elizabeth was named Executor. Apparently no child/children are named in his will.[6]
