Biography

Sarah Wetherell/Witherell, daughter of Rev. William and Mary (Fisher) Witherell, was born 10 Feb 1644/5 in Scituate, Plymouth Colony.[1] [Her father spelled his name Witherell. See [2]]

She married 30 Dec 1668 Israel Hobart, son of Rev. Peter Hobart of Hingham, Suffolk County, Massachusetts,[3] and moved north to his home on Hingham’s Great Plain. After the Indians destroyed their home they move to her hometown, Scituate, and settled on the North River.[See husband's profile.]

She died before her husband for she is not mentioned in his will. Her death apears to be sometime between March 27, 1714, when Judge Samuel Sewall (1652-1730) noted in his diary that he had given her 10 “shaillings” when he had supper with Mr. Eels, the current pastor of Scituate's Second Church[4] and 1718, when she is not mention in the deed where Israel sold the land to their son.[5] She was probably about 70.
