Biography

John Wetmore, born 27 Oct 1727 at Middlefield, Connecticut, was a son of Hannah (Hubbard; 1700-1794) & Samuel Wetmore (1692-1773) [1].

He married 19 May 1757, Elizabeth Leming or Leaming [b. 2 Dec 1728, daughter of Jeremiah Leaming (abt.1687-1759)].

Their children:

  1. Elizabeth (Wetmore; b. bef.1758-)
  2. Seth Wetmore (1761-1836)
  3. Samuel Wetmore (1764 - 1824); married Hanna Griswold

John Wetmore died 11 Jun 1795 at Torrington, Connecticut. According to his online memorial site, he was killed while riding on horseback on the highway by the falling of a tree during a heavy thunderstorm.

His grave is represented to be in Newfield Cemetery, Torrington, Litchfield County, Connecticut, USA [2]. No grave marker is depicted.
