Andrew was born on September 27, 1885 to Andrew Wetzel and Rosa Brecht in New York. His siblings included Amelia, Gretchen, William, Bertha, Mary, and Arthur.
Andrew had many jobs starting to work as young as 12 years old as a "wagon boy[1]." He also sold vegetables and worked in a furniture factory[2].
He lived in Manhattan until around 1930 when the family moved to the Bronx[3].
According to his WWI draft card, he was of medium height and slender build with black hair and brown eyes[4].
He passed away on June 1, 1960 in New York.
