Sylvia was born in 1949. She was the daughter of William Whalen and Eliza Martin. She passed away in 2019.

Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sylvia Myra (Whalen) Bulger, 69 years of age, at the Health Sciences Centre on February 26th, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Left with fond and loving memories are her husband, Jim, daughters Juliane Fiander (Trevor), Lesley Henley (Shane), precious grandsons, Jack and Sam Fiander, Eric and Adam Henley, sisters, Rev. Gloria Churchill (Len), Sharon Whalen (Bruce Burry), brother, Harold Martin (Barbara), nieces Becky Keating (Teagan and Rory), Melissa Churchill, nephew, Alan Martin (Ann-Marie). The Bulger Family, Roseanne MacDonald (Alec), Marie McDonald, Harry Bulger (Millie), Sharon White (John), Jenny Lou Jones (Lamont), Betty Stubbs, Cathy Murphy (Bill), Philip Bulger (Odette). Also left with special memories are many nieces, nephews and cousins, extended family, friends, neighbors, club girls and co-workers too numerous to name. Predeceased by parents, William and Eliza Whalen, parents-in- law, Harold and Betty Bulger and special nephew, Shannon Churchill.

Special thanks to the staff at the Health Science Center for their compassion. Also, to Dr. Patty Power for her exceptional care since her diagnosis 3 1/2 years ago.

Sylvia enjoyed working, for many years, with the Scotiabank and Gulf Oil. However, her life revolved around her family and friends, especially her grandsons who were her pride and joy.

Visitation at Barrett's Funeral Home, Hamilton Avenue Saturday & Sunday March 2-3 between 1-4 and 7-9. Celebration of life Monday, March 4th at 11:00am at First United Church, 221 Park Avenue, Mount Pearl.
