Albert married Lordena Hout in 1950.
Albert died on June 4, 2005 and is buried in Black Hills National cemetery. [1]
Albert Ray Whalen was born February 23, 1929, at Ellendale, ND to Charles and Irene (High) Whalen. He was raised in Pollock, SD, where he attended school and graduated from High School.
Albert married Lordena Hout at Herreid (SD) on June 24, 1950.
Albert was drafted in 1951 and served his country in the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge in 1953. (Korean War) He returned home to Pollock where he operated the family restaurant.
The family moved to Deadwood in 1964 and Albert worked for the Homestake Mine until retiring. The family moved to Sturgis in 1990 and returned to Lead for three and one half years until moving back to Sturgis in 2004.
Albert was a member of the Lead Presbyterian Church. He also loved to fish and play his guitar. Albert will be remembered for his many gifts, including his wry sense of humor.
Albert, 76, of Sturgis, died Saturday, June 4, 2005, at the Ft. Meade VA Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife, Lordena Whalen, Sturgis; two sons...; four grandchildren...; and two great-grandchildren....
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two half brothers. [2]
