John was born in 1625, and baptised on 9 November 1625 at Wigan, Lancashire.[1]
His daughter Katherine was baptised at Wigan on 21 June 1658 and he was said to be living at Marketsteads on the baptism entry. Katherine died in 1673 and was buried at Wigan on 2 May 1673.[2]
He passed away in 1707 and was buried on 9 March 1706/1707 at Upholland, Wigan.[3]
Have added sources for the details given, but left marriage to check as it is over 90 miles away, all other details in Wigan. He is shown as a weaver at burial but a wheelwright on the marriage: 12 May 1656 John Whaley of the parish of St Johns (Throapham), wheelwright, and Sarah Wood? of the parish of Rotherham spinster.[4]
Katherine appears to have died in 1673 "Katherine daughter of John Whalley of Marketstreet" so cannot be the one who married in Blackburn 1678. There is a baptism of a Katherine Whaley in Blackburn in 1658 which may be the correct one.
