Biography

Hercules was born about 1815,the son of the Rhea Co pioneer Rev John Whaley and Mary Airheart. He served in Comp W of the Tennessee Mounted Infantry during the Mexican War, and became a large livestock dealer after the war. He and Emily Frazier where married in July of 1850 and lived near her parents. Emily died in 1853 - they had no children. [1]
He then married Mary Jane McAdoo in 1855 and they had four children. The book Nicholas Gibbs has Hercules dying of cholera aboard a New Orleans train in 1851 but I find no results in searching for a different Hercules Whaley that Mary Jane marries in 1855, and numerous family trees have him dying in 1864 also on the train of cholera. Have not found any documentation of his death. [2]
