Ervin Cyrus Wharton m. Luverne, MN, 24 Aug. 1950, Lorna Gail Ward, daughter of Robert Duane and Merle Edith (Slagel) Ward, b. 23 Feb. 1931. Moved in Dec. 1968 from Luverne area to Glenwood, MN area, their 1985 address. Baptists. Dairy farmers. Children:

• Gary Allen Wharton b. Luverne, MN, 3 May 1952, m. 27 March 1982, Barbara Lee (Glauvitz) Peterson. Gary adopted her son Jeremy John, b. 19 Oct. 1977. They have a daughter Keri Lynn Wharton b. 22 May 1983. Gary, a graduate of Minnesota University, owns and operates Belgrade Welding and Repair. Lutherans at Belgrade, MN, 1985.
• Linda Kay Wharton b. 27 Aug. 1953, unmarried 1985. A Licensed Practical Nurse, she trained especially to care for high risk and premature babies and is employed in a hospital in Orange County, CA; taking classes in Early Child Care and Development. Writes and sings Christian songs. At Huntington Beach. CA, 1985.
• Roger Duane Wharton b. 17 Sept. 1957, m. 9 May 1981, Debra Kay Anderson, b. 13 Nov. 1961. Son Christopher Duane Wharton b. 20 Oct. 1981. Home in 1985 at Willmar, MN, where both are employed. Roger served one term in the National Guards.
• Darla Jean Wharton b. 7 March 1964, to be married 6 July, 1985, to Peter Weston Finke, b. Glenwood, MN, 19 Sept. 1964. Darla, an accountant, has employment in Minneapolis. Baptist. Peter is a graduate of Golden Valley Lutheran College, Golden, MN.^[1]

Obituary

Ervin Wharton, age 76, died Monday, Jul 16, 2007 at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 4:00 PM on Thursday, Jul 19, 2007 at First Baptist Church in Glenwood with Pastor Charles Horsager officiating.

Visitation wil be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M on Wednesdsay at Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood and resume one hour prior to the service a the church on Thursday. Interment will be in Grove Lake Cemetery. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home, Glenwood.

Ervin C. Wharton, the son of Clarence and Ruby (Snodgras) Wharton, was born February 27,1931 in Hand County, South Dakota. He grew up on a farm in rural Rock County, MN and attended the Baptist Church. Evin graduted from high school in Luverne, MN and then began farming in Rock County, MN.

On Augst 24,1950 in Rock County, MN he married Lorna Ward. The couple farmed near Luven untill 1968 when the family moved to Kandiyohi County, where they farmed until 1975, at which time they moved to a farm in Pope County and relocated to Grove Lake Township where they presently reside.

Ervin will be remembered for his love of farming, John Deere tractors and old airplanes. Ervin is survived by his wfe of 56years, Lona, of Glenwood; son,Gary (Barb) of Belgrade, Roger (Sarah) of Willmar; daughters, Linda Wharton of Glenwood, Darla (Peter) Finke of Long Prairie; 10 grandchilren, Chris, Desiree, Lindsey, Kristen, Jeramy, Keri, Kayla,Melinda, Emily and Jonathon; 10 great-grandchilren; sister,Eva Moerke; and his brother, Eugene Wharton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ruby; and his brother, Everett Wharton.
