William was born in 1833. He was the son of Simeon Whatley and Catherine Lazenby. He passed away in 1891.[1]

Extract from page 27 of LAZENBY ... by Mary Elinor Lazenby[2]
(1) Catherine Lazenby was born in 1812. She married Simeon Whatley. Their first child was William, born in Georgia in 1833. About 1835 the family removed to Cherokee County, AL, living among the Indians, and it is said that the child William was captured by them, but rescued.
