Biography

Amos Wheat (son of Salmon Wheat) was born August 04, 1758, and died 1833. His mother was Abigail White, (page 11, 1960 book). His father's first wife, Marcy Gale, died between 1751 and 1757. Amos's father married Abigail White on Jan. 13, 1757 at Mendon, Mass. His parents' marriage record lists them as "Salmon Wheat of the Nine Partners so called in York" and "Abigail White of Mendon". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Nine_Partners_Patent

In the Revolution Amos is listed as a Private, Apr. 27, 1781 in Capt. John Burnett's Co., Lt. Col.Albert Pawling's Regt. (New York in the Revolution).

1790 census, of Mamakating, Ulster Co., 1 male over 16, 2 under, and 2 females. 1800 census of Deer Park, Orange Co. males 2.3.1.1,0.

Feb. 15, 1809, he buys of William Jillet. Jan. 9, 1830, Amos Wheat and wife Hannah of Calhoun sell to Barnabas Horton of Wallkill; wits: Isaac Jillet, Thomas G. Smith.

May 14, 1833. Amos of Mount Hope deeds 90 acres to his son Nelson.

Dec. 1, 1833. Hannah Wheat of Mount Hope, widow of Amos Wheat deceased, deeds to Charles Wheat, son of Amos, for $45. paid yearly by Charles.
