Biography

Ann was a Friend (Quaker)

Ann was the daughter of Joshua Wheeler, a farmer of Cranfield, Bedfordshire and Elizabeth Rudd. She was birth in about 1730.[1]

In 1757 Ann married John Head. They had four sons, of whom one died in infancy, and two daughters:[1]

  • Ann, born at Ipswich, Suffolk on 10 June 1758,[2] who in 1779 married John Warder,[1] a shipping agent of London, probably born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania[3]
  • John, born at Ipswich, Suffolk on 7 September 1759[1][4]
  • Thomas, born at Ipswich, Suffolk on 14 April 1761[5]
  • Benjamin, born at Ipswich, Suffolk on 28 June 1763[6]
  • Joshua, born on 10 June 1765 at Ipswich, Suffolk.[7][8]
  • Elizabeth, born at Ipswich, Suffolk on 7 March 1768,[9][10] (ThePeerage.com, citing Burke's Peerage, wrongly gives the year as 1769.[11]), who married Richard Tapper Cadbury, a linen draper and silk mercer of Birmingham, Warwickshire[1]

Ann died at Birmingham, Warwickshire on 23 July 1813 and was buried at Birmingham Quaker burial ground on 30 July. The Quaker death and burial record of Woodbridge Quaker Monthly Meeting says that she lived most of her life at Ipswich, Suffolk, and gives her age at death as 83.[12] The corresponding record of Warwickshire North Quaker Monthly Meeting says she was late of Ipswich, Suffolk.[13]
