Nathaniel Wheeler is Notable.
  • The family business was carriage making. But Nathaniel formed a partnership with Allen B. Wilson, who had obtained a patent for the sewing machine. He had great success at that enterprise. Wheeler & Wilson later merged with Singer sewing machine company.
  • Nathaniel served in the state legislature (as a Democrat, 1873-4), and served on a variety of corporate boards and public commissions.
