Elizabeth Wheeler was born in Virginia about 1855 to Johnathon Wheeler and Susannah McCalley.

In 1860^[1] we find her father is a farmer in Lewis, Virginia with the closest post office Weston, he has $2,000 in real estate and $200 in personal estate. In the home are Jonathan 53, Susanna 37, Mary ann 16, Mahulda 14, Galloway 13, Joseph 12, Alvina 9, Savilla 7, Elizabeth 6, Jonathan 2.

In 1870^[2] we find him still as a farmer, now in Franklin, Braxton, West Virginia. His personal estate is at $100 and Real Estate at $3,500. James Sprigg is a relative near them, likely a relative of his first wife. In the home would be Johnathan 62, Susan 50, Mary Ann 25, Galloway 24, Joseph 21, Elvira/Alvina 19, Savilla 17, Elizabeth 15, Jonathan 12 and Sally 7.
